Full Job Description
the ice resurfacer, working with and providing direction to other
seasonal staff, monitoring the facility and its operating equipment, and
performing multiple custodial and cleaning duties to ensure that HealthEast
Sports Center continues to meet its mission statement. This is a roving,
working, flexible position with little time in the office area.Applications will be reviewed as received and positions will be open until filled.
These positions will work during the summer/fall and especially through our peak season (October - March)
Operates ice resurfacer and related equipment at scheduled times to maintain a quality
skating surface.Performs cleaning and custodial functions during each shift and communicates additional cleaning and support notes for the next shift/next day operations.
Performs periodic building inspections to include parking lot, entry areas, all public
areas, rest rooms, playing surfaces, team rooms, concessions, offices, storage
rooms for general building operation and security and provide information to
staff to support quality services.
Records and performs minor adjustments to refrigeration system, HVAC system and other related mechanical systems, control systems, records readings, and adjusts for
Contacts the HSC Operations Specialist or HSC Manager at once when any equipment malfunctions occur for timely repairs and to minimize potential downtime.
Understands, reflects, and communicates the HealthEast Sports Center mission statement to customers and staff, to insure a high level of service is maintained, including cleaning, customer service, skate sharpening, rentals and safety measures,
snow/ice removal, and record keeping.
Provides assistance in the direction of seasonal staff engaged in services to customers
according to the standards and polices of the City and the HealthEast Sports Center during work shift.
Provides assistance to open/close out POS cash Register(s) following the Cash Handling policy on a per shift basis.
Provides assistance with first aid and emergency procedures in the event of an emergency.
Prepares the facility for the next day of operation as dictated by scheduled shift;
including building alarm system, lighting, staff check in/out, log book readings, security and inspections according to specified check list.
Communicates information to the HSC Maintenance Technician, HSC Operations Specialist or HSC Manager relative to the safe and secure operation of the HealthEast Sports Center and to support the coordination of partner groups at

Ability to instruct and supervise the work and duties of other staff.
Demonstrated skill and ability with both verbal and written communications.
Ability to work independently with no direct supervision.
Flexibility and ability to work under changing priorities and peak workloads.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitudes.
Working knowledge of personal computer and basic programs.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Power and hand tools, equipment for carpentry, painting, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical; janitorial equipment, including single disk floor scrubber, wet-dry vacuums, automatic floor scrubber, mops, wringer, brooms, high lift equipment, ladders, scaffolding, personal computer, electric ice resurfacer, turf equipment, snow blowers, IAQ testing equipment, and other tools and equipment used to facilitate this job description.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.18 years of age.
Valid driver's license or ability to obtain prior to employment.
Ability to perform physical demands as listed in position description below.
Ability to work one weekend shift per week.
One year of Zamboni driving experience
Operational knowledge of ice resurfacer.
Forklift, tractor or heavy equipment operator experience
Experience using personal computers.

Noise levels in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, moderately noisy in the remainder of the facility with the exception to the very noisy when the arena is occupied.
