Marshall, MN: Arena Maintenance Technician

The City of Marshall Maintenance Technicians perform a variety of routine cleaning, janitorial, general maintenance, and preventive maintenance at the Red Baron Arena and Expo, generally during the fall/winter months.  This position also works in our Parks Maintenance Department, operating light equipment and trucks, and performing a variety of manual to semi-skilled duties involving the maintenance and repair of various parks facilities, generally during the spring/summer months.

1. Perform a variety of cleaning and janitorial duties such as sweeping, dry mopping, wet mopping, stripping, waxing, polishing and vacuuming floors, hallways and stairways, and shampoo/spot clean carpets.
2. Clean concession facilities, restrooms, fixtures, door glass and windows, dust shelves and wall hanging artwork, and maintain supplies (e.g., paper towels, hand soap, and bathroom tissue).
3. Remove trash, recyclable papers and empty containers.
4. Maintain HVAC systems in the absence of the Supervisor.
5. Perform a variety of maintenance and duties involving carpentry, painting, and minor plumbing.
6. Perform preventive maintenance and minor repair on equipment.
7. Conduct daily boiler and facility inspections on a weekend (Saturday / Sunday) rotational basis and on City designated holidays, as directed.
8. Operate ice resurfacing and related equipment (e.g., Zamboni), as directed.
9. Assist with general maintenance activities at the arena and other City parks facilities, as directed.  This includes, but is not limited to:  landscaping, field maintenance, mowing, snow removal, cleaning of park buildings/shelters, maintenance on irrigation systems, and maintenance of park amenities.
10. In coordination with the Parks Superintendent and Facility Maintenance Supervisor, provide direction and assistance to vendors and lessees in the changeover and preparation of facility for events.
11. Keep all maintenance closets clean, organized, and stocked.  Report inventory needs and maintenance items to the Supervisor.
12. Assist other departments, as needed.
13. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
