Tell us how you got into the industry?  

Involved in hockey for over 60 years, opportunity came to run the arena and I snatched it up. 


How many years have you been in the ice arena industry? 

30 years 


What type of Ice Resurfacer does you facility operate? 

Electric Zamboni 


What type of Ice Edger does your facility operate? 

Electric Olympia 


What is the size of your ice sheet? 

200’ x 85’ – 2 sheets 


What type of floor do you have in your facility? (Sand/Cement/Other) 



What is the best part about working in an ice arena? 

Working with kids and good people in Moorhead 


Using one word, name one thing you love about working at a rink? 



Nobody’s perfect in this industry. Tell us your worst experience at a rink so far? 

Poking a hole in one of the pipes with secondary refrigerant. 


What are the first three things you do when you get to the rink each day? 

Drink Coffee, check news and emails, go for a run.


How do you feel ongoing professional development is helping you and your career? 

Good to hear ideas from young bucks


How would you explain to the average hockey parent how the ice resurfacer works to resurface the ice? 

It’s the heart and soul of the rink, take off ice with sharp blade, put on same amount of new ice with hot and cold water.


Career highlight or accomplishment you are most proud of? 

Too many to tell


Advice for making it in the sports industry or for someone wanting to be a Zamboni driver? 

Pay attention to good ice and make the facility a place the kids can call their place.
